Joris Teer
About the founder…
Joris Teer is an internationally-oriented and multi-skilled consultant, researcher, writer and interviewer. To make political science actionable for businesses and other organizations, Joris founded Teer Strategy – an advisory firm for (geo-)political risk analysis and strategy development through scenario building. He is based in Amsterdam and lived in the People’s Republic of China, Beijing for close to two years and one year in the United Kingdom, London.
In order to understand how large economic entities like banks stay ahead of the competition, Joris Teer completed courses in economics in Amsterdam, Shanghai, Florence and Cambridge and worked at the International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF), a Beijing-based sustainable finance research institute. At IIGF, he completed research in partnership with ING Group on Sustainable Finance in Asia. He took part in business courses like the Bain-UNHCR Strategy Days 2018 and STAR Consultancy Castle 2019 organized by among others McKinsey and BCG to achieve insight in how companies and parties in the not-for-profit sector formulate strategies. Furthermore, he learnt to build scenarios at an Amsterdam-based strategy firm. He completed a B.A. in Liberal Arts and Sciences (hons. cum laude) at Amsterdam University College and two M.Sc.’s in International Affairs at Peking University (GPA: 3.85 out of 4.0) and the London School of Economics (high-merit). Here he learned what strategies governments adopt to improve their positions vis-à-vis competing states in the global political arena.
